This Privacy Policy explains how Bethany Russell, PLLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and safeguards information when you visit bethanyrussell.com (the "Site") and when you interact with our quizzes, emails, coaching/consulting, and therapy-related pages and forms.

By using the Site and/or purchasing, viewing, downloading, or signing up to receive our newsletter, quiz results, emails, courses, coaching services, guides, eBooks, forms, worksheets, workbooks, or other materials (collectively, the "Site, Courses, Services, and/or Products"), you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

1) Definitions

  • Company / We / Us: Bethany Russell, PLLC and bethanyrussell.com.

  • Content: All written, visual, audio or video materials on the Site, including blog posts, graphics, emails, downloads, documents, templates, and frameworks (including the Self Sovereign Method™).

  • Personal Information: Information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked with a particular individual (e.g., name, email, address, phone, IP address, device info, payment details, site behavior).

  • Site, Courses, Services, and/or Products: bethanyrussell.com and any associated pages, opt-ins, forms, sub-pages, blog posts, quizzes (including Interact, Honeybook), emails (via Flodesk), coaching services, intensives, downloads, and related offerings.

2) Company Statement

The Site and its Content are owned by Bethany Russell, PLLC. We are committed to protecting your Personal Information and will only collect or use it according to this Policy.

3) Information We Collect

Information You Provide: When you complete forms, request a consult, join our email list, purchase, or contact us, you may provide your name, email, mailing address, phone number, payment info, and any information you choose to share.

Information Collected Automatically: We (and service providers) may automatically collect device and usage data (e.g., IP address, approximate location, browser type, device identifiers, pages visited, time on site). We may use tools such as Squarespace Analytics and Google Analytics. Interact may collect quiz responses you submit. Flodesk stores email preferences and engagement data for subscribers.

We use this information for analytics, to improve the Site, to deliver requested content, and to support marketing communications you opt into.

4) Updating Your Information

To access, update, or correct Personal Information you have provided, email bethany@bethanyrussell.com. If you are a therapy client, see Section 11 regarding confidentiality and HIPAA-related communications.

5) When We Collect Information

We collect information when you:

  • browse the Site or read Content;

  • submit forms (e.g., consult requests, quiz submissions);

  • subscribe to our emails or download resources;

  • purchase or book coaching/consulting or intensives;

  • contact us.

If you subscribe to our emails, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by emailing bethany@bethanyrussell.com. Where required (e.g., in the EU/EEA/UK), we will obtain your affirmative consent before adding you to marketing lists.

6) How We Use Information

We may use Personal Information to:

  • deliver requested content (e.g., quiz results) and communicate with you;

  • personalize your experience and our offerings;

  • provide and improve the Site, Courses, Services, and/or Products;

  • process payments/transactions;

  • respond to inquiries and provide customer support;

  • send newsletters and marketing communications (you may opt out at any time);

  • run promotions, surveys, or features;

  • support advertising/retargeting on platforms we may use in the future (see Section 9).

7) Sharing of Information

We do not sell your Personal Information. We may share Personal Information with:

  • Service providers that perform functions on our behalf (e.g., Squarespace, Interact for quizzes, Flodesk for email, HoneyBook/Stripe or other payment processors for bookings/transactions, calendar/scheduling tools). These providers are permitted to use Personal Information only to provide services to us and must protect it.

  • Law enforcement or legal requests where required by applicable law.

  • Successors/affiliates/contractors as needed to operate our business.

If you share information via social features or third‑party platforms, that information is governed by those platforms’ policies. Non‑personally identifiable information may be used for marketing, analytics, or other purposes.

8) Data Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect Personal Information, including SSL encryption on the Site and secure third‑party processors for payments. No system is 100% secure, and you provide information at your own risk.

9) Cookies & Similar Technologies

We (and service providers) use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember preferences, analyze usage, and personalize content. You can control cookies via your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect Site functionality.

Pixels/Retargeting: We do not currently use social media pixels (e.g., Meta/Facebook). We may enable them in the future and will update this Policy if we do.

10) Third‑Party Links

The Site may link to third‑party websites or resources. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We welcome feedback about any issues you experience with linked sites at bethany@bethanyrussell.com.

11) Therapy Clients, Coaching Clients & Confidentiality

  • Therapy: Licensed therapy is available virtually only to clients located in Colorado, California, and Texas. Therapy communications and records are maintained via designated, HIPAA‑compliant systems and are not stored or transmitted through this Site. Do not submit confidential clinical information through general website forms.

  • Coaching/Consulting: Coaching/consulting is available worldwide and is not psychotherapy, medical care, or a crisis service. Coaching information may be handled through non‑HIPAA platforms appropriate for coaching.

12) Passwords

If you create an account for any feature, you are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for any activity under your account. Notify us immediately of unauthorized use.

13) Google Analytics & Advertising

We may use Google Analytics to understand Site usage (e.g., Demographics and Interests reports). You can opt out with the Google Analytics Opt‑Out Browser Add‑on or adjust ad settings in your Google account. We are not currently running Google Ads.

14) Your Privacy Rights (CalOPPA, GDPR/EEA, UK)

  • California Online Privacy Protection Act (“CalOPPA”):
    CalOPPA requires any person or company that operates websites collecting Personal Information from California consumers to post a conspicuous privacy policy stating what information is collected and how it is shared.

    Pursuant to CalOPPA, we agree to the following:

    • Users can visit our site anonymously.

    • Our Privacy Policy link includes the word “Privacy” and can easily be found on the Site footer.

    • You will be notified of any Privacy Policy changes on this page (see Effective Date).

    • We honor “Do Not Track” signals and do not track, plant cookies, or use advertising when a Do Not Track (DNT) browser mechanism is in place.

  • GDPR/EEA/UK: If you are located in the EU/EEA/UK, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction/objection to processing of your Personal Information, and data portability, subject to legal limits. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior lawful processing). You may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Data Retention: We retain Personal Information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy (for example, for as long as you maintain a subscription or as required for legal/recordkeeping obligations).

15) Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

The Site is not directed to children under 13. Do not use the Site or submit information if you are under 13. If you believe a child has provided Personal Information, contact bethany@bethanyrussell.com to request deletion.

16) CAN‑SPAM & Email Marketing

We comply with CAN‑SPAM. Every marketing email includes an Unsubscribe link. You may also email bethany@bethanyrussell.com to request removal. Unsubscribing from marketing does not affect transactional or service emails you request (e.g., appointment confirmations).

17) Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. The "Effective Date" above indicates the latest revision. Your continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
