Virtual Trauma Therapy That Actually Heals

For complex trauma, religious trauma, childhood wounds, and ancestral patterns

Licensed in Colorado, California, Texas • Therapeutic coaching available worldwide • Virtual sessions only • LGBTQ+ & kink/poly affirming • EMDR Level II trained • Trained directly with IFS founder Richard Schwartz

You've tried therapy before. It didn't work.

You understood everything intellectually. You could explain your trauma to anyone who'd listen.

But your body still carried the tension.

Your nervous system still hijacked you at 2am. The same triggers still sent you spiraling, just with better vocabulary to describe what was happening.

Here's what nobody told you: talking about trauma isn't the same as healing trauma.

What You Really Need:

Heal trauma in your nervous system, not just your thoughts

Integrate spiritual healing with evidence-based therapy
Reclaim parts of yourself that got buried under survival strategies

Address inherited patterns that aren't even yours to carry

You weren't born broken. You learned to survive.
Now it's time to remember how to live.

How I Work with Trauma Differently

I don't just treat trauma. I help you reclaim the parts of yourself that got buried under it.

IFS Parts Work for Trauma

Your trauma responses aren't character flaws—they're parts of you that learned to protect you.

Some of the parts we'll work with:

  • The part that goes silent when criticized

  • The part that abandons your needs to keep peace

  • The part that stays hypervigilant, scanning for danger

We'll get to know these parts, understand what they're protecting, and help your authentic Self lead with compassion instead of survival strategies.

Virtual EMDR That Actually Works

I'm EMDR Level II trained and specialize in virtual sessions.

What this means for you:

  • Process trauma memories without reliving them

  • No drowning in the story

  • Your brain files trauma where it belongs—in the past

  • Often feels safer because you're in your own space

Virtual EMDR is just as effective as in-person sessions.

Nervous System Regulation

Your trauma lives in your nervous system. We'll work with somatic techniques to help you:

Recognize when you're activated
Develop tools to regulate back to calm
Rewire your system for safety (not just manage symptoms)

No more three-day spirals after someone gives you feedback or sends a weird text.

Spiritual Integration

Trauma doesn't just wound your psychology—it can disconnect you from your spiritual center, your intuition, your sense of purpose.

This is especially true for religious trauma survivors who may feel spiritually homeless or afraid to trust their inner knowing again.

I honor the spiritual aspects of healing without bypassing the very real work of processing trauma. We'll help you reclaim your spiritual autonomy while healing the wounds that disconnected you from your authentic spiritual self.

Ancestral and Inherited Trauma

Sometimes the trauma you're carrying isn't even from this lifetime.

What we'll explore:

  • Family patterns living in your DNA

  • Inherited nervous system activation

  • Ancestral wounds passed down through generations

  • Past life themes and soul-level patterns seeking resolution

We'll help you identify what's yours to heal and what you can lovingly return to where it belongs. Sometimes healing requires addressing patterns that span lifetimes.

Types of Trauma I Specialize In:

✦ Complex Childhood Trauma & Childhood Abuse

Growing up in chaos, with emotionally unavailable parents, or in systems that taught you to abandon yourself. Including physical, emotional, sexual, and psychological abuse.

Shows up as:

  • Chronic self-doubt

  • Difficulty trusting yourself

  • Feeling like you're "too much" or "not enough"

  • No clear "event" to point to, just years of learning the world wasn't safe

  • Hypervigilance and difficulty feeling safe in your body

  • Sexual disconnection and difficulty with intimacy

  • Patterns of choosing unavailable or unhealthy partners

✦ Religious Trauma & Religious Abuse

Healing from harmful religious experiences, spiritual abuse, and religious systems that caused psychological harm.

Common experiences:

  • Being told your intuition is "dangerous" or "demonic"

  • Spiritual experiences being dismissed or shamed

  • Purity culture and sexual shame

  • Religious deconstruction and family rejection

  • Spiritual bypassing that avoided real healing

  • Religious leaders using power to control, manipulate, or abuse

  • Spiritual gaslighting and religious coercion

I understand the specific wounds that come from systems that should have been safe but weren't, and the complex grief of losing both your faith community and your spiritual foundation.

✦ Developmental Trauma & Narcissistic Abuse

When your early attachment relationships taught you that love was conditional, including growing up with narcissistic parents or in narcissistic family systems.

Shows up in adult relationships as:

  • Losing yourself completely to maintain connection, OR

  • Pushing people away before they can hurt you

  • Needing constant reassurance or avoiding intimacy altogether

  • Difficulty recognizing your own needs and feelings

  • Chronic people-pleasing and fear of abandonment

  • Attracted to narcissistic partners or relationships

Inherited and Ancestral Trauma

Patterns that run in your family line, fears that don't match your actual life experience, or carrying emotional burdens that feel too big for your own story.

Signs you might be carrying ancestral trauma:

  • Fears that don't match your actual life experience

  • Family patterns that repeat despite your efforts to break them

  • Feeling responsible for healing your entire family line

Identity and Transition Trauma

Trauma around coming out, religious deconstruction, leaving toxic family systems, or any major identity shift where you had to choose between being yourself and being safe.

Common experiences:

  • Coming out in non-affirming religious communities

  • Losing family/community during deconstruction

  • Being rejected for questioning beliefs

  • Hiding kink/poly identity from family/community

  • Sexual shame from religious purity culture

  • Being pathologized for consensual adult relationships

  • Having to choose between authenticity and belonging

What You Can Expect

Sessions That Feel Different

We're not doing the traditional therapy thing. We'll use:

  • Your body, not just your brain

  • Movement and breath to process what's stuck

  • Visualization to heal what your mind can't reach alone

  • Spiritual integration (to the extent you're comfortable)

  • Ritual and energy work when it serves your healing

This is trauma therapy that honors your whole system—mind, body, and spirit.

Healing That Feels Real

You'll notice changes in your body, not just your thoughts:

✓ Better sleep
✓ Less reactivity
✓ Ability to stay present during conflict
✓ Trusting your gut instead of second-guessing every decision

✦ Parts That Feel Heard

Instead of trying to get rid of your anxiety, perfectionism, or people-pleasing, we'll understand what these parts are trying to protect and help them feel safe enough to step back so your authentic Self can lead.

Nervous System Shifts

You'll develop tools to recognize when you're activated and regulate back to calm quickly.

Spiritual Reconnection

Many trauma survivors lose connection to their intuition, their spiritual gifts, or their sense of purpose.

As we heal the trauma, you'll likely find yourself reconnecting to these deeper aspects of who you are.

 FAQs

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems) is incredibly effective for trauma because it doesn't just treat symptoms—it heals the parts of you that are still carrying the wounds. Traditional therapy often tries to get rid of anxiety, depression, or PTSD symptoms. IFS helps you understand that these aren't disorders—they're parts of you that learned to protect you when you couldn't protect yourself.

Research shows IFS is highly effective for complex trauma, and here's why: trauma fragments us. It creates parts that get stuck in survival mode while other parts try to manage daily life. IFS helps you get to know these parts, understand what they're protecting, and help your authentic Self lead with compassion instead of being hijacked by survival strategies.

What I love about IFS for trauma is that clients consistently tell me it's the therapy that's worked the quickest for them—even clients who've had years and years of trauma therapy before finding me. That's because IFS doesn't just help you understand your patterns; it actually transforms your relationship with the parts of you that are stuck.

It's not about "fixing" you or getting rid of difficult emotions. It's about creating internal cooperation so you can respond to life from your center instead of from your wounds. My clients often say it's the first therapy that actually made sense of their inner experience.

  • Yes!

Research shows virtual EMDR can be just as effective as in-person sessions, and many clients find it feels safer to process trauma in their own space. I'm trained specifically in virtual EMDR protocols and have years of experience helping clients heal trauma through online sessions.

  • I'm a private-pay practice, but I can provide superbills for potential insurance reimbursement. Many clients find that paying out-of-pocket allows for more flexibility in treatment approach and frequency.

There's also a significant privacy benefit to private pay: your sessions, diagnosis, and treatment details aren't shared with insurance companies or stored in their databases. This means complete confidentiality for your healing journey, which is especially important for LGBTQ+, kink/poly, or religious trauma clients who value discretion about their personal lives and therapeutic work.

  • I wish I had a magic ball and could tell you the exact amount of sessions (and please steer clear of therapists who do give you an exact number!), but I can’t because every person and every trauma is different.

Some clients notice significant shifts within the first few months, while deeper trauma work might take longer. I promise we'll check in regularly about your progress and adjust our approach as needed.

  • You don't need clear memories to heal trauma. Much of my work focuses on how trauma shows up in your current life—your nervous system patterns, relationship dynamics, and the parts of you that learned to protect you. We can work with what your body remembers even when your mind doesn't while still addressing the core wound and not just the symptoms.

  • Absolutely. I have extensive experience (personally and professionally) helping people heal from harmful religious experiences while honoring your current spiritual beliefs (or lack thereof), religious deconstruction and the grief that comes with losing your faith community, spiritual bypassing that avoided real emotional healing, purity culture and religious sexual shame, having intuitive gifts pathologized by religious communities, spiritual abuse from religious leaders or communities, and finding your authentic spiritual path after religious trauma.

I understand both the spiritual wounds AND the healing that's possible on the other side.
